The Iceni
Challenge Trophy
This year the
BTCPS has kindly allowed me to offer the Iceni Challenge Trophy, to be
awarded at our Specialty show on Friday August 24/2007. In order for this
trophy to be won outright, it must be won three times, by the same owner,
not necessarily with the same bull terrier.
The idea behind
this is to encourage and promote the breeding of good bull terriers and to
appreciate those animals that have done spadework in the past.
For the white
B.O.V. the Iceni Challenge Trophy is offered in memory of Am.Can.Ch. Iceni
Spellbinder ROM ( Margot). A pack leader, Margot taught me the fundamentals
of whelping and rearing care, whilst maintaining a sense of humour
throughout. Her offspring are ranked highly in the records. She was a loyal
companion, an accomplished hostess, a super mum and grand mum.
For the colored
B.O.V. the Iceni Challenge Trophy is offered in memory of Am.Can.Ch. Iceni
Micklefell R.O.M. ( Michael). For those who have not lived with a male bull
terrier you are missing out. Mike was my main man and was always there for
me. Because of him I decided to apply for my judges license and I think of
him each time I enter the judging ring. It is my honour to have a trophy
named after him.
As we struggle
to promote our breed in the face of legislative issues, public
apathy/misunderstanding, I believe we need to encourage those who will carry
the torch.
In that spirit I
have great pleasure in offering these trophies and will watch with keen
interest to see how we make progress in the coming years.
